Education Waivers
Certain prelicense courses will be automatically waived for new applicants as follows:
1. Valuation & Analysis will be waived for currently licensed appraisers.
2. Real Estate Finance will be waived for applicants with an accounting degree who are currently working in an accounting-related profession.
3. Actively practicing attorneys may have Real Estate Law waived for a broker’s license, and for a sales associate license, Module 1 will be waived and Module 2 may be completed by successfully challenging the current final course exam.
Actively licensed agents and brokers from other states do not have to take prelicense education to obtain the same type of Idaho license, except for designated broker applicants, who are required to take a Business Conduct & Office Operations (BCOO) course.
For other education waivers, you should first submit a written request to the Education Department for an evaluation of your prelicense education. If your education was completed in another state, you should also provide a certified education history from that licensing authority. Upon receipt of the Staff’s education evaluation, you may submit a written request to the Education Department for special consideration to obtain a waiver of one or more prelicense education requirements. The Education Council reviews all requests at their regular monthly meetings and considers requests on a case-by-case basis.
