Broker License Requirements

Broker or Associate Broker:

High School diploma or equivalent
18 years of age
Minimum 90 hours of broker prelicense education (click here for specific course requirements)
Two (2) years of active real estate sales experience within preceding five (5) years
Complete fingerprint background check
State and national broker license exam (click here for license exam info)
Errors & Omissions Insurance (click here for info on RISC group E&O insurance)
Proof of legal presence in U.S.

For Designated Broker, add the following:

Business Conduct & Office Operations (BCOO) or Idaho Brokerage Management course within preceding 5 years (may not be waived)
Notice of Opening a Trust Account
Certificate of Assumed Business Name (if necessary) filed with Idaho Secretary of State
Company license application (if operating as a corporation, LLC, or partnership) – see application forms for additional required information

Agreements with Other States:

If you hold a current active broker’s license in one of the following states, you may obtain a WAIVER of Idaho’s broker prelicense education and license exam requirements:

Alberta, Canada	Oregon
Colorado	South Carolina
Georgia	South Dakota
Iowa	Tennessee
Montana	Utah
Nebraska	West Virginia
North Dakota	Wyoming
Oklahoma

If you hold a current active broker’s license in any other state not listed above, you may obtain a WAIVER of the broker prelicense education requirements and the national (general) portion of the license exam only.
